OUR STORY

A unique bridging of cultures is responsible for the magic that happens at TRIPPER. Founders Francois and Olivier Bernard, were born in Grasse, France - a world renowned historical center of perfumery where modern techniques of extraction were developed.

WHERE WE STARTED

As their family collected Rose and Jasmine flowers in the region, the brothers developed a strong connection to fragrant ingredients at a very young age. This where the TRIPPER story truly began. Raised in Sumatra, Indonesia, where they continued their bond with aromatics and later, Singapore, François and Olivier further developed their ties with South East Asia. In the mid-80s, Francois helped his father collect vanilla beans on the island of Bali. He immediately saw an opportunity to sell high quality vanilla to restaurant owners in the US, where he was living at the time.

Because of his rich history with Indonesia, he wanted to add value at origin, not just for end consumers but for farmers and employees along the supply chain. And he knew that his close relationship to the land and people coupled with a technical expertise is what would make this all possible. Olivier who was then working for a Fragrance and Flavor company in Jakarta, joined forces with his brother and brought in his technical experience. Two processing sites were built; a Jakarta plant dedicated to spice grinding and a Bali plant focused on liquid extracts.

Over two decades have passed the company developed into an international business with over 200 employees and customers from New Zealand to New Jersey. While the offerings have expanded, TRIPPER remains one of the few companies that source and process premium Indonesian spices at the source, providing unparalleled quality and traceability and always sticking to our moto: We add value at origin.
